So… If you were on Digg or any social media sites this week, you might have noticed that Firefox 3 was officially released this week.

Now, we love Firefox 3 - we really, really do, but the problem is it just doesn’t have all the options we want. So we thought we’d list a few features we want to see them implement before the next release.

1) Michael Arrington Moustachifier

Michael Arrington MustacheTechCrunch’s Michael Arrintgon would look like a pimp if he had a giant moustache. The problem is that I dont think Michael would grow one… so why not help him out?

Utilising facial recognition technology, this feature would scrape pictures of Mike and add a random moustache from a large image moustache library.

See what we mean? Total pimp.

2) Not-Bin Laden

The US Government cant find Osama Bin Laden. Just like a set of keys that you need to get to work when you’re late, he seems to be just beyond our ability to locate. Why not help them out by utilising the power of the Interwebz?

What this would do is use your webcam and check to ensure that you are NOT Osama Bin Laden. If you are not, it would notify the US government that Osama Bin Laden is not there. By narrowing down where the bearded man isn’t, it should be easier for them to find out where he is.

Just a thought.

3) Spam-Seeker

SpamWe all receive a fair amount of spam. I sure as hell won’t buy this stuff, but apparently SOMEONE out there is (otherwise why would anyone sell it?).

Just for those poor souls, Firefox should introduce The Spam-Seeker 3000. This pro-active application would automatically fill out details into known spam sites for you, just in case you are one of those people that buy this kind of crap.

Someone would probably use it… we’re sure of it.

4) First-alizer!

What the First-alizer! does is when you are reading a blog post, it checks to see if there are no comments yet, and if it detects none, then it posts automatically posts “First!!!”

This would help those people that do this kind of thing. You know who you are.

5) Auto Dude Detector

Crying GameOnline dating is here to stay. It’s a simple fact of life. Why not help those guys online who are trying to find an actual female. The Auto Dude Detector picks out which female profiles are real and which are guys posing as girls. An optional feature could be used by women seeking men, real men, by detecting which 6′3″ muscular studs are actually 6′3″ muscular studs and not 5′5″ 14-year-old nerds posing as 6′3″ muscular studs.

No Crying Game moments for users of this useful tool.

6) De-Emo

This should be mandatory smileyperiod1 7 Features wed like to see in Firefox 3 Its aim? To remove the Emo’s off the Internet, one at a time smileyperiod 7 Features wed like to see in Firefox 3

Some thoughts on how we can achieve this smileyperiod 7 Features wed like to see in Firefox 3smileyperiod 7 Features wed like to see in Firefox 3smileyperiod 7 Features wed like to see in Firefox 3 Replacing all periods with little smiley faces to make them happier?

7) Meme Destroyer

Hopefully with this addon, Meme’s that get too old just die out.

If I see another “lolcat” or “rickroll”…. Someone is going to get hurt…

If you have any ideas for new awesome features below? Let us know in the comments!

I’m not going to sugar coat this at all, because frankly, this kind of thing scares the living shit out of me.

It’s borderline worst case scenario… I mean its not like they’re handing out nukes to everybody, but this isn’t that far removed from it.nuclear-bomb-badger US military Loses Nuclear Missile Parts

Recently the US Government lost just over a thousand ’sensitive’ components for nuclear weapons.

Whats worse is they lost them in Taiwan…. What the fuck was someone doing shipping nuke parts to Taiwan?

Who the fuck assembled nukes in Taiwan? If you’re like me, you dread the term “Made in Taiwan” when it comes to electronics.

Now take that feeling of complete dread and despair, multiply it by about a hundred billion… and thats getting damn close to what it will feel like about a nuclear weapon thats made in Taiwan.

But hey, thats ok you know? The news outlets is reporting ’sensitive’ using ‘quotation marks’… I suppose they are there to soften the blow a little.

Yeah, and you now know why this kind of thing scares the shit out of me.

Oh and for the record, this story was submitted to Digg from 11 different sources and didn’t go popular.

Original Description:

THE US military has lost more than one thousand “sensitive” nuclear missile parts, officials close to the Pentagon say.

If this isn’t a convincing argument of the positives of biodiesel - then nothing is.

Essentially, the Le Mans 24 hour is a once a year race, the most gruelling of races, and a real test of engineering. Only the best engineered cars win.le_mans_630x_2 Diesels Crush All Challengers at Le Mans -- Wake Up America!

So who won this year? An Audi R10 which runs on biodiesel… actually the most interesting thing is that the top 6 positions were taken by cars that run on diesel, with the highest placing gasoline powered car came in 7th, 19 laps behind the winner.

Lets hope the automotive industry takes this on - biodiesel = good.

Original Description:

And it was a bio-diesel that won.

Space has always been one of those things that has fascinated me, ever since I was a young boy.

17planet600 Astronomers Identify 45 New Planets

When I first read this story from the New York Times, the most exciting thing about it was that our scientific instruments are now sensitive enough to start recognising planetary systems that are close enough to Earth’s size…. just one closer step to more space colonisation (and potential contact of another species?)

These are exciting times we live in, thats for sure.

Original Description:

The newly identified planets range in mass from slightly bigger than Earth to about twice as massive as Neptune.

It might come as a shock to most people on Digg, but there are many people out there that just dont use technology that often.

I know, I didn’t believe it myself either until I read this story on Forbes. There are many well known celebrities out there that shun the use of technology… Angelina Jolie, Vince Vaughn, Paul McCartney to name a few. technophobe_clk Tech Free Celebrities

So my only question is, if these people dont use tech, and by inference, the Internet - Then where do they get their porn from? Cos as we all know, that was the only reason the Internet was created in the first place.

Neither of these stories went anywhere, but the video is just fantastic. I’m not going to say too much more about it, just watch it.

It has been 111 years since the first introduction of this amazing little tool.

Rather than write something boring, I’m just going to share some of my favourite Swiss Army Knife moments.

Macguyver - We all know that ‘Mac’ is the man, but without this little tool, he would have been left high and dry.Swiss Army knife

Robin Williams - Whenever I hear the words “Swiss Army Knife”, his standup from 2002 comes to mind, I’ll leave you with the quote from that performance below.

“How butch is an army that has a wine opener on its knife?….Many of you men have never opened a Chardonnay under fire. First of all you take out the wine bottle, pull out the cork, smell it, say ‘meat or fish’ and throw!”

Original Description:

The first spring-loaded Swiss Army knife included a single knife blade, two screwdrivers, a can opener and an awl punch. When it was registered as a trademark by Swiss-blade-craftsman Carl Elsener 111 years ago, no one would have believed that his simple multifunctional tool would dominate the survival/useful gadget market for more than a century

Water is, undoubtedbly one of the most vital ingredients to life on our planet. Deserts are usually a place normally devoid of water, but is abundant in Gypsum, a rocky mineral common in those areas.

These scientists have worked out a simple method, utilising waste heat from nearby oil fields to turn this rock, into clean water which could potentially turn barren deserts into fertile land.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Original description:

Gypsum, a rocky mineral is abundant in desert regions where fresh water is usually in very short supply but oil and gas fields are common. Gypsum is also chemically 20% water, and surplus heat from oil fields could convert the rock into clean water and rocky waste.

As a young boy, I loved growing up with Lego, and I’m sure pretty much every other guy out there can say the same.

When Lego introduced their Mindstorm kits a few years back, I had seriously given some thought to purchasing some kits - they just looked too cool, and the possibilities seemed enless.

After reading this article, it has stirred the inquisitive child inside of me, and once again I find myself wanting to go out and purchase some.computer scanner made from Lego

Things like this, simply blow my mind.

Original Description:

The NXT image scanner is a “stand alone” scanner that can scan and save images as a BMP-file in the NXT’s flash memory. Images can be saved in either 24-bit true color, 8-bit color or gray scale. The scanner has a small LCD menu that let’s you set the properties for the scan.

Zimbabwean Generals

This is a very interesting article produced by the Telegraph which suggests that Robert Mugabe is now just a figurehead for Zimbabwe’s JOC.

This situation could get much uglier in the future, and is definitely a story to watch for anyone even mildly interested in world politics. It’s just a shame we cant see stories like this get some exposure over pictures of LOLcats.

Original description

Zimbabwe’s generals have mounted a “military coup by stealth”, reducing President Robert Mugabe to a “figurehead”, a senior western diplomat said…and are now masterminding a campaign of terror to suppress the opposition Movement for Democratic Change and guarantee victory for Mr Mugabe…observers believe Mr Mugabe’s age and his new dependence
