With the financial crisis and credit becoming evermore scarcer by the day, it was bound to happen. People are finding new ways to pay their bills and off their debts.
This man’s is definitely the most amusing so far. He submitted a drawing. The correspondence between him as the agent is even more so.

I’m so doing this…
I think i’m going to try this!

Got kids?
Adults lie as well; in fact, kids are just really practicing for when they’re older. Or, perhaps they’re getting even for Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

My favorite part of the article is the linking between lying, high IQ, and good social skills.
The world would fall apart if we could all read each other’s minds.
Original Description:
“Daddy puts on your bras sometimes,” my then 4-year-old said nonchalantly as I tried on lingerie in a department store dressing room. “Excuse me? When?” I asked, astonished. “When you’re asleep,” she replied — and proceeded to describe how, early Saturday mornings, he’d slip a bra over his T-shirt and then jump on our mini-trampoline.

If ever there was a better indication that marriage is no longer a priority in life, we haven’t seen it. In Boston, AshleyMadison.com is launching a $500,000 ad campaign that does just that. Their idea (and motto) is:
Life is short. Have an affair.
The fact that adultery is illegal in Massachussets is apparently not in issue here, as the law is antiquated and not really enforced by any of their law enforcement agencies. It is, of course, still a legal grounds for a divorce.
Their radio spots started airing last week. In one, President and CEO Noel Biderman promises “an affair to remember.” TV spots begin airing next month, just in time to wreck marriages before Christmas. This does not seem to be an issue of regard to the company or its CEO.
“The era of the scarlet letter is long over,” he said. Read more…

There hasn’t been a time in history that a President has been hit with as much ridicule as George W. Bush. Bill Clinton had his follies, but they were nothing compared to what has transpired the last 7 years, 10 months.
This article about a Bush Autobiography actually received quite a few Diggs considering the submitter. It would have been nice to see it hit the front page simply for the crowd-sourced continued list of alternative book titles for a Bush book. He says he’s considering it. Should be interesting.
Original Description:
President Bush says he has many regrets. He is even considering writing a book about his presidency. Possible titles? Economy: Gone with the Wind. Or: Iraqis are from Mars, Afghans are from Uranus. Or: Me and Dick

… and submitted to Twitter by DoshDosh - which who I got the link from.
The list was compiled by researchers at Oxford. But, what was most interesting about this article, is the fact that they have researchers (and software, I assume) that monitor phrases used and construct a database of them. The purpose of the database: What expressions are disappearing and which words are misused.

Looking at the list, I think Professor Strunk would have approved.
Original Description:
A top ten of the most irritating expressions has been compiled by researchers at Oxford University.

It really is funny. The picture, while a little risque, is not porn and actually has some humor to it. Still, this one was mysteriously buried despite showing no buries on Ajaxonomy. It wouldn’t be possible for Digg to manually pull a story down, would it? Either way, here’s the image. Funny, regardless of what Digg might think.

Original Description:
I think I need some extra help on this equation in my pants.

There are so many social media sites popping up left and right between Pligg and other ways of building them that it is starting to get hard to keep track of them all. At Social News Watch, we are compiling a list that can be used to make some sense of it all.

Whether you know of some new ones that aren’t listed at all or you know of some lists themselves that can be checked and added to the compilation, let us know. Either post it here or at SNW and we’ll try to put together one complete list.
This is not my personal blog; nor, is it JD’s. It’s starting to feel like it, though. We need contributors, and in order to satisfy that end, perhaps we need to expand the mission of this blog a little further. You may not have thought it was possible, but I assure you; it is.
Our first and primary mission was to highlight those stories on Digg that, for one reason or another, did not make the front page. It was a result of being frustrated at and confused by an obscure algorithm that no one could even begin to understand. How does one story get picked over another? Is the decision to promote one piece over another truly being crowdsourced?
Through our posts we highlighted apparent flaws in Digg’s algorithm, its system design, and its community. Not satisfied with that and feeling rebellious, JD decided to highlight the utter crap that managed to be promoted to Digg’s homepage. Thus, even from its earliest days, this blog’s mission has always been two fold:
1) To highlight those stories that may have deserved to have gone popular.
2) To highlight the garbage that manages to become popular, but should really have not.
Mostly, we added human intellect and judgment to the selection of stories to go popular that Digg’s algorithm could not. Read more…

OK, so this doesn’t necessarily fall under the category of “why didn’t THIS make the front page of Digg?” There’s not a ton of content, it’s linked from somewhere else, and there is no real use to it at all from a practical perspective.

The thing is, it’s freakin AK-47 Ice Cubes. Call it blogger’s prerogative. Call it a temporary lapse in judgment. Call it stupid. Whatever you call it, I definitely want my own AK-47 freakin’ ice cubes.

See the frowny face Digg?
Ok, so maybe not front page material, but I just wanted to highlight two submissions with a message to Digg staff about the bannings - in a rather comical way.
cgt… uhm… NoNipples
submitted two photos in response to all the new bannings. They basically poke fun at his own banning while symbolically protesting the newest string of bannings from Digg.
I’m not going to put an image on this post… cause the only relevant one I can think of is with boobies
Original Descriptions:
No nipples here
So I shouldn’t get banned for it this time, right??????
I wonder if Kevin looked at these going “Hmm… this account looks familiar and so does this wedding photo”
