With (American) football pre-season around the corner, there are few stories that can hold interest. Most are predictions and fantasy related. Some talk of mini-camps and rookies, contracts and holdouts. This one goes into the past to list the top draft gems of the past 20 years.

Tom BradyWhat makes this list interesting is that many of the stars of today and of recent years didn’t make their initial impact in college. Tom Brady was overshadowed at Michigan. Terrell Owens fell to the third round before becoming a perennial All-Star and public relations centerpiece. There are even linemen listed — the unsung heroes who do so much to make a team successful. SI did an excellent job on this particular piece.

Original Description:

Good list & gallery from SI. Some obvious (Tom Brady, 6th round); some less obvious (Terrell Owens, 3rd round; Shannon Sharpe, 7th round).
