Most of the news about the environment that hits on Digg is bad. The reason for this is that most of the news about the environment IS bad. Every now and then, a story pops up that highlights some of the hopeful things to come. There are people working towards securing our environmental future.

This story talks about 5 of them.

The submitter is someone who doesn’t Digg other people often — 7 out of 8 of his Diggs are his own submission — but that shouldn’t keep a good story from moving up. On Digg, if you aren’t Digging others, your submissions have very little chance of ever seeing the light of day.

But then you attend an event like Future Cities, a panel of sustainability experts held last night at the World Science Festival, and it seems like we might just figure out how to thrive on this planet after all.
